Franco Battiato, born Francesco (Ionia, March 23, 1945), is a songwriter, composer and Italian director. Considered among the most important and influential of all the Italian singer-songwriter scene, has always confronted with many musical styles, combining them in an eclectic approach and original. They range from the early romantic sixties, the experimental music of the seventies, through the avant-garde classical, world music, progressive rock and pop music, even through the opera and classical music.
